depends on the circumstances of who's buyin and who's sellin. 9x is more realistic. check some online Pm dealers they buy as well as sell.
you can even buy merc dimes for 86 cents from the morgan mint. they are not known for reasonable prices. so be realistic |

A $10 roll of pre 1965 quarters has 40 coins and is valued at $100.05 when silver is at $13.83 a troy oz.
Thats for a bu roll. I guess 13.83 is the 10x # Right now its at 13.43. :( |

Indeed. When you look at it from that point of view, BU 90% coins are one of the best ways to preserve wealth. That money dosent lose value. These are the coins that would be inside a treasure chest. What would you wrather have... A Sacagawea dollar... Worth $1 at all times, and keep in mind the dollar is falling more and more every year. http://content.answers.com/main/cont...SacDollar.jpeg Or a 90% Silver Peace Dollar... Worth at times more than 10X face value? And keep in mind, the same things that make the dollar fall will make silver gp up! http://www.coinfacts.com/silver_doll...dollar_obv.jpg 10 X baby! :aetsch: This is why Gold (and silver) is money! |

Good to hear - just picked up a few old silver halves and quarters for 8x face ... didn't pull the trigger on the Peace Dollars for $12, though...

I've been buying peace dollars in bulk off from ebay lately and spending no more than 10x face. Silver dollars at spot seems like a hell of a deal to me.

Re: Pre 65 dimes/quarters worth 10x face value?
I went to a certain coin dealer in Ventura (won't mention names) who aggressively tried to get me to buy $300 worth of Peace Dollars at a little over $12 per. He told me it was an "amazing deal," and he was only giving it to me because I was a new customer and he was trying to win my business - very pushy, though (I asked how much they were, he asked how much money I had and wouldn't give me a price, just a number of Peace Dollars for all my cash).
He seemed offended when I turned down his "amazing deal," considering that I had seen them at $12 each all day at the last coin show, and didn't need to pay tax or buy $300 worth at well over spot...... Now, 8-10x face for old silver, that's a deal I like. 12x, not so much - what do I need 25 scuffed up Peace Dollars at 20% over face for? |
Re: Pre 65 dimes/quarters worth 10x face value?
12 for a decent peace dollar is not a bad price. when people talk about 90% silver they're usually talkin dimes and quarters and halves

Re: Pre 65 dimes/quarters worth 10x face value?
I agree - it's a pretty good price (and just an OK price if you have to buy $300 worth and then pay 8.25% tax) ... it was just how pushy the guy was, how he wouldn't quote me a straight price, and how he made it seem like he was practically giving them away, when he wasn't. He probably paid $8-$10 each for them, and would have made over $100 profit on a $300 deal.
I know Peace Dollars aren't "junk" silver. But the ones in circulated condition clanking around in a bin really aren't worth anything over the silver content. I did buy one Peace and one Morgan just to have them, but I don't see why I'd want a whole stack of them for well over spot. |
Re: Pre 65 dimes/quarters worth 10x face value?
with the price going up, good luck getting 10x face.
